He is survived by: his wife Dorothy "Dot" Day; his children, Joyce Cameron (Jeff) of Live Oak, FL and John Day, Jr. (Heidi) of High Springs, FL; his siblings, Edna Cox of Jacksonville, FL and Isaac Day of Warner Robbins, GA; and his grandchildren, Kelly Landis (Mike), Ashley Staley (Tony), Sherry Stewart (Jason), Zackari Day and Landon Day. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
