He is survived by: his wife Mercedes Roca; his children, Rene Michel Matamoros (Mayrelys), Yusi Matamoros (Carlos) of Live Oak and Beatriz Matamoros (Ivan) of Live Oak; and his sisters, Lourdes Alonso of Cuba and Teresa Matamoros of Cuba. He is also survived by seven grandchildren.
