He was predeceased by: his parents, John R. Gay Sr. and Venice Aaron Gay. He is survived by: his wife Deborah Oglesby Gay; his children, Olivia Reynolds (Brent), Jonathan Gay and Kimberly Southers (B. J.); his sisters, Shirley Gay of Savannah and Janice Gay (Emory III) of Athens; his sister-in-law Jan Snooks of Swainsboro; and his brother Charlie Gay (Barbara) of Garfield. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
