He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothy; his son Karl; his parents, Mollie Mae and Kenneth; his brother Leland; and his son-in-law Steven Wood.
He is survived by: his daughter Kelly Hakes (Joe Boyd); his grandson Jeffrey Geering (Alexis); his great grandchildren, Arianna and Aubrey; his siblings, Nancy Louise (George), Merle Hakes (June) and Jack Hakes (Ellie Mae); and also, Brandy Geering, Brittany Wood, Donna Louise (Frank) and Mary Louise (Paul).
