She is survived by: her husband David Bates; her children, Monte, Terrie and Stevie; her siblings, Ivory Jean Douglas, Exelona Hubbard (Hubert) and John Douglas; her children, David LaMonte, Theresa Lynn and John Wilson Sr. (Dale); her grandsons, John Wilson Jr. (Dominique) and Christian; her great grandchildren, Johnna Monae and John Wilson III; and her nephew Jonathan Douglas (Deloris).
