He was predeceased by: his former wife Agnes Rice Taylor; and his sons, Monty and Irvin Eugene Taylor. He is survived by: his siblings, Perry, Clarence, Amy, Remu, Ruby, Leon, Evelyn and Carlton; his children, Ernie and LaFaye; his wife Mary Ann; his children, Ernest Keith Taylor and Elizabeth; and his grandchildren, Georgia Clements, Janna Luke, William Harvey Hughes IV and DeeDee Chmielewski.
