He was predeceased by: his parents, John Fletcher Merchant and Leona King Merchant (King); and his sister Donna Lynn Stapleton. He is survived by: his spouse Jan; his children, Travis Merchant of Terre Haute, IN, Allison Rogers (Ben) of Leesburg and Stacie Fernandez (Freddie) of Tampa, FL.; his brother Gerald Merchant (Karen) of Lake Charles, LA.; and his grandchildren, Brooklyn, Londyn, Lincoln Merchant, Savannah, Blake Rogers, Leo, Arlo, Mateo, Freddie III and Elijah Fernandez.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 2nd 2025 from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM and on Monday, February 3rd 2025 at 11:00 AM. A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 3rd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Leesburg (220 N 13th St, Leesburg, FL 34748).
