James Keliikuamau Bell Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Keliikuamau Bell, known by his friends as Kimo. Kimo fought a long battle with cancer, but he never complained about his condition and did not let it affect his outlook nor his enjoyment of life.

Kimo was born in Hilo, Hawaii and grew up in Honolulu, Hawaii. After a stint in the Air Force he settled in Los Angeles. He became involved with programming when computer technology was in its infancy, and was involved with NASA during the Mariner, Surveyor, and early Apollo missions. He later was employed by Loyola Marymount University as a project manager in their Information Technology Department. Kimo retired to Florida in 2001 where he spent his days golfing and his evenings singing in various karaoke clubs. Kimo’s most blessed moment was when he surrendered his life to Christ and was baptized into the church.

Kimo is survived by his wife Jill, daughters Sherri Bell and Crystal Orosco (Anthony), son Kevin Bell, and sisters Ruby Lusardi (Larry) and Janet Stranc, also 7 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. A Celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 on Tuesday, February 28 at West Orlando Baptist Church in Ocoee, Florida. His ashes will be taken by the family to Honolulu, Hawaii where they will be placed in a columbarium at the National Memorial of the Pacific.
