She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, John B. Whitty and Edith Whitty; her husband Raymond Mercer; her siblings, Muriel Turlington, Bobby Whitty, Lucile Cherry, Gertrude Gamble and Benny Whitty; her children, Ramona Prine (Rip) and Frank Mercer (Midge); her grandchildren, Melissa Anderson (Dean), Gena Smoak (Ron), Grady Guess (Ashley) and Ryan Mercer (Molli); her nephew Tommy Bishop; and her pet Gideon. She was also cherished by many great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the Madison Women's Club, Madison County Educational Foundation, Lee and Madison United Methodist Women's Circle, Pink Ladies of Madison Hospital, and United Methodist Cooperative Ministries.
