He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman and Ruth; and his son Donald Behnke. He is survived by: his wife Joan; his children, Richard Behnke, Jr. (Sue), Laura and Susan Sutton (Glen); and his siblings, Donald Behnke (Pat), Karl Behnke (Audrey), Robert Behnke (Sandra) and Joann Bowers.
