Tom" born September 9, 1958, passed away unexpectedly January 7, 2018. He is survived by his daughter, Katherine Dowen; siblings, Laurie (Tom) Curtiss, Eric (Tracey) Dowen, and Elizabeth Dowen; nieces, Kristin Ludolph, Caroline (Seb) van Koningshoven, Hailey (Ted) Belden; and many friends and family near and far. He was preceded in death by parents, Marlene and Thomas Dowen. Tom grew up in Wilmette, IL, and spent his formative years with his family in London. He attended University of Illinois-Champaign in pursuit of a degree in theater design until a tragic accident left him wheelchair-bound. Throughout his rehabilitation he continued his education and obtained a degree in fine arts. Warm weather and family influenced his move to Florida, where he resided for the past 31 years. Tom was an active member of the Catholic Church, long time employee of Pinellas County Schools, and he was an avid fisherman, train enthusiast, and participated in several bands who were featured locally. Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018, 10 am, at St. Justin Martyr Catholic Church, 10851 Ridge Road, Seminole, FL 33778.
