John Gerrior Sr., 89, of Largo, Florida, died peacefully surrounded by his family on November 13, 2024. John was born on June 23, 1935, in Saint John, Canada, to Steven Henry Gerrior and Lillian Gertrude Farrell (Gerrior). John was the proud father of John Gerrior Jr of Gloucester, MA, and Glenn Gerrior of Largo, FL. John married Carolyn Gerrior (Ducette) on May 25, 1958, until her passing on April 30, 2021. John had three grandchildren, Steven Gerrior (deceased on September 28, 2002, Nicole Gerrior of Barrington, NH, and Brianna Gerrior of Concord, NH. John had one great-grandchild from Nicole Gerrior (Chase Lakeman of Barrington, NH).
John moved to Ontario, Canada, when he was young and attended the Lowe WD High School in Windsor, Ontario. He then joined the Royal Canadian Navy from 1953 to 1957. John moved to Gloucester, Massachusetts, after honorably serving in the Canadian Navy for 4 years. He and Carolyn lived in Gloucester, MA, where they raised their family until they moved to Largo, FL. John worked in Gloucester, MA, at FW Woolworth and Hiltz Trash until they retired in Largo, FL, in 1989. While living in Largo, FL, John worked at Pinecrest Senior Living, where he served as a security guard until he retired in 2019.
John was always the life of the party, and people often went to him for guidance. He enjoyed spending his free time later in life, driving older people around to get groceries and visiting to keep them company. John has enjoyed visits from his son John and grandkids throughout his life. He loved bringing his grandkids rollerblading for miles around his work in Gloucester. He spent the last years of his life caring for his beloved wife, Carolyn, until her passing in 2021.
In 2024, John's health started to decline, and John Gerrior Jr. moved him back to Gloucester, MA, from Largo, FL, to care for him. John is finally at peace with his beloved wife, Carolyn, whom he has wanted so desperately to be reunited with since her passing.
Burial will be held at a later date. A Celebration will be held in the near future.
