It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dean Leo Mamas of Largo, Florida, born in Columbus, Ohio, who passed away on October 15, 2024, at the age of 75, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo Mamas and Georgia Mamas (Mattis). He is survived by: his brother Harry Mamas of Asheville, NC; his nieces, Lori Santaniello of Newtown, CT and Suzanne Bernstein of Franklin, MA; his nephew Mark Pozzo of Lakeville, MA; his brother-in-law Bill Pozzo of North Easton, MA; and his cousins, Nick, Yiota, Kosta and Elena Mattis of Palm Harbor, FL..
Besides his devotion and contributions to astrophysics, he was a Francophile, was very proud of his Greek heritage, spoke fluent French, loved art, music and antiques.
