With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Elsie M. Delong of Lakeland, Florida, born in Mascotte, Florida, who passed away on April 10, 2025 at the age of 84. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her father Rev. Frank R.; her husband Jimmie Joy Delong; the father of her children Gene Smith, Sr.; and her brothers, Albert F. Mickler, Sr., Robert D. Mickler and Tommy Mickler.
She is survived by: her children, Gene Smith, Jr. (Mella), Deborah Shepherd (Stephen) and Glenn Smith (Jill); her grandchildren, Alisha Green (FL), Amber Turner (Samuel) and Ethan Smith (FL); her great grandchildren, Chloe, Ainsley, Stetson, Novalee, Easton and Melina; her sister Ruth Hoskins (Lawrence); and her sisters-in-law, Rosalie Mickler (FL) and Jean Reber (FL).
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 19th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Lakeland Funeral Home (2125 Bartow Rd, Lakeland, FL 33801). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 19th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, April 19th 2025 at 12:00 PM.
