He was predeceased by: his sister Diane Dezeeuw; and his father James Sr.. He is survived by: his wife Marilyn; his children, Charles and Lara; his mother Beatrice; and his sister Leslee Jacobs (Frank). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He also served as an Assistant Boy Scout Leader, making walking sticks, donating camping gear, and teaching Scouts essential outdoor skills.
