He is survived by: his wife Peggy; his daughter Susan Nowell (Todd); his grandson Herbert "John" Jr McGowan (Heather); and his sisters, Dorothy Thomason (Thomas) and Doris Martin (Sonny). He is also survived by three grandchildren.
