It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dennis Carpenter of Lake City, Florida, who passed away on December 11, 2024, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Dennis Carpenter to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Lonnie Ward Carpenter and Leona Hunt Carpenter; and his siblings, Betty Carpenter, Dorothy "Wardene" Brady and Robert Carpenter.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Cason Carpenter of Lake City; his children, Kevin D. Carpenter (Julie) of St. Augustine and Kim Carpenter-Herring (Dale) of Old Town; his sisters, Mary Ann Nettles (Rodney) of Lake City and Sandra Thomas (Charles) of Branford; his grandchildren, Taylor Carpenter of South Beach, Lexi Svall Nordgren (Jesper), Brianna Tribou of Carlsbad, CA, Matt Herring (Kristen) of Old Town, Colby Herring (Britney) of Old Town, Sydney Valentine (Charlie) of Old Town and Jabe Herring of Old Town; his great grandchildren, Piper of Old Town, Ramsey of Old Town, Molly of Old Town, Ryder of Old Town, Gunner of Old Town and Briggs Herring of Old Town; and also Ramona Norris (Don) of Lake City. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home (3596 US-441, Lake City, FL 32025). A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Lake City Downtown Lake City (182 NE Justice St, Lake City, FL 32055). A committal service was held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 at 12:15 PM at the Santa Fe Cemetery (27117 45th Rd, Branford, FL 32008).
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church of Lake City (182 NE Justice St, Lake City, FL 32055) or The Partnership for Strong Families in effort to update and enhance the visitation room in Trenton, Florida. Both contributions can be made to First Baptist Church of Lake City and if the contribution is for the visitation room, please earmark the check by inputting, "Visitation Room" on the memo section of the check.
