She was predeceased by: her parents, Rafael Gerena and Esmeralda Gerena (Mendoza); her sons, Henry "Hank" Garcia and Lin-Edward "Eddie" Garcia; and her siblings, Victor Gerena, Virgen Gerena, Vilma Iris Gerena, Ana Maria Gerena and Justa Gerena.
She is survived by: her siblings, Lola Gerena, Rafael Gerena and Manuel Gerena; her children, Carmen Garcia, Aurea "Betty" Garcia, Richard Rodriguez, Luis "Cuchy" Carrasquillo, Hilda Carrasquillo and Rene Carrasquillo; and her niece Blanca Sanchez. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
