William Richard Harrison Obituary

William Richard Harrison died peacefully on Sunday, September 17, 2023 in the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Alan Hill, both were by his side. Bill was 96 years old.

Bill was born and raised in Kearny, New Jersey by a loving family. In his youth he was active in his church and very athletic at Kearny High School. Family summers were spent with his grandparents at Keansburg Beach, New Jersey. Upon graduating from Kearny High School in 1944, he enlisted in the US Navy. After his return from duty, he met the love of his life Bernice Sprinitis. They married shortly thereafter and had 3 children, Lynne Billy, and Joyce. Bill served his community as a fireman for 31 years, retiring as Deputy Chief in the Kearny Fire Department.

Bill and Bernice moved to Hobe Sound , FL where they became active members of St. Luke's Episcopal Church. As charter members of Heritage Ridge Golf Club, both Bill and Bernie won club championships during their years of golf.

Bill's passion was always his family. Annual family vacations throughout the US were highly anticipated and the memories are countless.

He is predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Bernice who passed on October 1, 2018.

He is survived by his sister Grace Edwards, his 3 children, 7 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 10th 2023 at 1:00 PM at the St. Luke's Episcopal Church of Hobe Sound (5150 SE Railway Avenue, Stuart, FL 34997).

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Trustbridge Hospice of Palm Beach County or PCDH19 Alliance (Epilepsy Foundation).
