He was predeceased by: his wife Lori Mathews (Peterson); his parents, Albert Mathews and Lynn Mathews (Vasquez); his brother Thomas; and his brother-in-law Mike Thomaston.
He is survived by: his sister Jo Anne Thomaston; his stepchildren, Amy Barber and Daniel Houseman; his siblings-in-law, Kathleen Mathews and David Peterson (Diana); his nieces, Ashley Ditzig, Alexis Ditzig (Tyler Burton), Kristen Mathews and JP Mathews; his great-niece Gianna Mathews; and his great-nephew Atlas Burton.
