With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Barbara Wynell Nelson of Jay, Florida, who passed away on March 4, 2025 at the age of 84. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her great-grandparent Barbara Wynell Lockett Nelson; her parents, James Ottis and Nellie Brown Lockett; and her husband Jimmy Wayne Nelson. She is survived by: her children, Cathy Nelson (Jerry Jones) of Jay, FL, Ricky Nelson (Patricia) of Jay, FL and Janet Hendricks (Scott) of Troy, AL; her siblings, Randall Lockett of Milton, FL, Frances Edwards (Merlin) of Jay, FL, Gary Lockett (Wanda) of Pace, FL and Doyce Lockett (Anne) of Pace, FL; and her grandchildren, Dr. Justin Nelson, Blake Hendricks (Ansley), Blair Lunsford (Justin), Hannah Stewart (Charles), Jerod Jones (Jenna), Bryce Hendricks and Jacob Nelson. She is also survived by nine great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 9th 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at the Cora Baptist Church (12953 Chumuckla Hwy, Jay, FL 32565). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 9th 2025 at 2:30 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Cora Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
