He was predeceased by: his parents, H. C. Goolsby and Marie Wetherington Goolsby; his wife Marie Scaff Goolsby; his siblings, Van, Dale Goolsby, Danese Goolsby and Sonya Fulmer; and his grandson Justin Goolsby.
He is survived by: his sisters, Dorothy "Dottie" Lombardi and Vicki Fennell; his sister-in-law Doreen Goolsby; his children, David Goolsby, Jr. (Karen), Clay Goolsby of Jasper, Shari Boyette (Mike) of Live Oak and Kristi Combass (Dorrell) of Jasper; his granddaughters, Jennifer Watson (Jimmy) of Jasper, Adrienne Boyette of Live Oak, Leslie Ann Carroll (Aspen) of Jasper and Mackenzie Combass of Jasper; and his great grandchildren, Kyla Watson of Jasper and Elsie Kate Carroll of Jasper.
