She was predeceased by: her father Matelyn Sowell; her son Tedric "Teddy" Sowell; and her siblings, Dorsey Sowell, Herbert Sowell, Willie Frank Taylor and Connie Dean Simon.
She is survived by: her daughter D'Shonna Sowell of Hyattsville, MD; her siblings, Mary E. Atkins of Philadelphia, PA, Alonzo of Jasper, Brent of Jasper, Glenn Sowell of Jasper, Bishop Carl Sowell (Lee Omie) of Statenville, GA, Donnie Sowell of Laurel, MD, Leonard Phillips of Gainesville, FL and Bruce Phillips (Sonja) of Wilmington, DE; her grandchildren, Derrius Sowell and De'Dric Forbes; her aunt Janie Mae Bristol of Jasper, FL; her sister-in-law Marilynn Sowell of St. Petersburg, FL; and her close friends, Corrine Humphrey, Thomas Durand and Woodrow Lumpkin. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
