He was predeceased by: his parents, Victor Lowell Austin and Eva Childers Austin; his former wife Connie; his son Michael A. Austin; his sister Marilyn Jeane Austin Watkins; and his granddaughter Shannon B. Austin.

He is survived by: his wife Cornelia Estell Harper; his children, Stephen R. Austin, Cindy Roxanne Austin Garrett and Cary L. Austin; his grandchildren, Jeremy Newell (Stephanie), LaSheika Wyatt (Lane), Clay Bullard, Stephen Shane Austin, Deven A. Kimbal, Mechele Sams (Scott) and Jessica Gadd (John); and his sisters, Deanna Fox (Stephen) and Vicki Conquest (John). He is also survived by 15 great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren.
