She was predeceased by: her parents, Claude Parker Weaver and Janie Weaver (Ellison); her husband James Robert Gossett, Sr.; and her son James Robert'Robbie'Gossett, Jr.. She is survived by: her children, Sandra Gayle Marek (Gossett) and Gregory Daryle Gossett; her grandchildren, Lena Inez Santiago (Gossett) and Chad Robert Marek; and her great grandchildren, Alexandra Gayle Gossett and Julian Giovanni Santiago.

Visitation was held on Monday, September 9th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Arlington Park Funeral Home (6920 Lone Star Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32211). A celebration of life was held on Monday, September 9th 2024 at 12:00 PM and from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. A graveside service was held on Monday, September 9th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Hosting An Open House.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Vera's memory to Haven Hospice, as they were so instrumental is helping us in her final months.

“Sandy, Just three minutes ago I found Vera's obituary here on the computer. I am so sorry I did not know and if I had my car and could still drive, I would be on my way to Arlington. I have been in poor condition since I saw all of you on her birthday, but I know that is no excuse. You mat not know my son, David, who you knew and who adored Vera and Jimmy Gossett passed away on March 23rd, five months ago. I pray they may say hello again in heaven. They have made it more beautiful..”
