He was predeceased by: his father-in-law Fred Falkenstein; and his grandparents, Curly, Betty Owens, Richard, Doris Mader, Mary Edens, Erv Jourdan and Oscar Rodriguez.
He is survived by: his parents, Richard "Butch" Mader and Sherry Rodriguez (Owens); his wife Dana Falkenstein of Jacksonville; his children, Hanna and Reed Vanderheyden; his stepparents, Charlie Rodriguez of Davenport and Julie Mader of Davenport; his mother-in-law Bonnie Falkenstein of Pahrump, Nevada; his grandmother Patricia Jourdan of Davenport, Iowa; and his siblings, Steve Rodriguez (Ena) of Windsor, Jodette Collins (Steve Kline) of Davenport, Brett Rodriguez (Rebecca) of Loveland and Brett Herron of Davenport. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Memorials may be made to the family, for a fund to be established in Troy's memory.
