He was predeceased by: his father Lenard Carter, Sr.; his stepfather Rudolph Henry; his sister Estella Henry-Jones; his grandmother Elnora Lewis; and his uncle Joe Lewis.
He is survived by: his mother Alzie Henry; his wife Jonette Lewis; his children, Joseph Simmons, Sr. (Zanisha), Sontrice Isom (Sterling), Jasmine Lewis, Tabriah Lewis, Tonny Lewis, Jr., Austin Bedwell and Joshua Lewis; his grandchildren, Zymirra Jones, Alani Simmons, Markus Jones, Jr., Sterling Isom, Jr., Joseph Simmons, Jr., Jace Gibbs, Payton Gibbs, Cadence Gibbs, Violet Isom and Justice Isom; his siblings, Cynthia Troutman (Kenneth), Nicole Felton, Joseph Caldwell, Elder Caldwell (Seronda), Carlos McKnight (Allison), Elnora Henry, Kenyona Henry, Lenard Carter, Jr. (Cynthia), Caryn Maylan (Dillon), Nathaniel Carter, Bernard Carter and Angelina Carter; his aunts and uncles, Willie Bolden (Shelia), Vernon Jones, Cora Lewis and Joy Lewis; and his in-laws, Brenda Bronson, Craig Edwards, Sr. and Willard Edwards. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Viewing was held on Monday, February 17th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Northside Chapel of Sarah L. Carter (6665 New Kings Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32219). A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, February 18th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the New Hope Assembly of God (5518 N Pearl St, Jacksonville, FL 32208). A burial was held on Tuesday, February 18th 2025 at the Evergreen Cemetery (4535 N Main St, Jacksonville, FL 32206).
