It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Roger Harry Dirkse (Jacksonville, Florida), born in Holland, Michigan, who passed away on March 13, 2020, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Cornelius Dirkse and Marie Dirkse (Kalkman); his wife Erma Jean Dirkse (Newland); his sisters, Sandra Cline and Norma Jean Pope; his children, Randall H. Dirkse (Brenda), Donna D. Vandervelde, Barbara J. Dirkse and Patti D. Pijut (Lawrence); his grandchildren, Jennifer R. Dirkse, Michelle L. Bishop Adam J., R. Alek Vandervelde, Alexandra M. Pijut and Nicolette J. Vandervelde; and his great grandchild Josie R. Jones. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.

“Roger is my friend, a father figure, a great Christian man that I looked up too. I met Roger back in September of 2006 while he was caring for his lawn. I needed a special screw driver and he had one. Little did I know he was going to be my best buddy! Roger was a man that loved God, his family and friends. He was a man who did volunteer work to help others in need. My buddy had a great smile, and a great personality that loved to laugh. Roger and I helped each other with different projects around the house. We both had our own little specialties we were good in. If the garage door was open he was usually in the yard working on something. I would get to his yard and holler out Roger! He would yell back Ye, and I would come running! I miss his smile, his stories, and his knowledge on the bible, wood turning, and plumbing, Most of all he is a man of God just like my father! We will meet again! I love you Roger!”
