Peter John Steyn Obituary

Beloved son and brother Peter Steyn lived his short life to the fullest and packed a lot of experience into the short 19 years he had spent with us in this life. Peter passed away unexpectedly from Sudden Cardiac Death on August 31 2021 as a result of complications from undiagnosed Myocarditis.

Peter spent his pre-teen years growing up in Washington State before moving to Florida with his family in 2010. He was an accomplished scuba diver and loved exploring the underwater world when not diving for lobster. Peter attained his brown belt in Shito-Ryu Karate-Do Genbu-Kai and loved teaching and sparring with his fellow class-mates. He was also an avid motorcyclist first riding with his father at age 5 and subsequently at age 16 obtained his license and started riding by himself.

Peter developed a love for growing orchids in his last year with us and amassed quite a unique collection of plants. The orchid collection is now being tended by his mother and provide solace for the space left empty when he passed away.

Peter was also big brother to Katherine, as siblings they were close throughout his life, always smiling, always engaging, always guiding.

He had started his studies during the summer semester at UNF in Jacksonville and returned for the fall semester at the time of his death.

Peter will remain forever in our thoughts.
