It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Michael A. Chanatry (Jacksonville, Florida), born in Utica, New York, who passed away on February 2, 2023, at the age of 72, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Chanatry and Mary Chanatry; and his siblings-in-law, Esther, Curly Halmi (Steven), Lee and Scott Halmi.

He is survived by: his wife Heidi; his children, Dr. Michael Chanatry (Erin) and Ali Powers (Blake); his grandchildren, Nolan, Christian Chanatry, Blakely and Skyler Powers; and his family, Danyse Fusco (Ralph) of New Hartford, NY, Ed Chanatry (Marie) of West Chester, PA., Rosanne (William Fallon) of Hobe Sound, FL, Mary Lou Boyer (Greg) of Plano, TX, John Chanatry (Patti) of Mount Airy, MD and Bob Halmi (Sally) of Edinboro, PA.. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

“Dear Heidi, This morning, I just learned about your loss of Michael. I am so very sorry. I remember you talking about Michael at our 50-year class reunion last August. This year has brought many losses, including our first grade teacher, Marilyn Melhuish (age 88), and another classmate, Cindy Engell Vanco (they both passed away on April 16, 2023). Since the reunion in August 2022, many women from our class have been getting together for lunch the 2nd Friday of each month (most recently at the McKean Tavern). Linda (Rummel) and I joined the group for the first time in May. The next time you’re visiting Edinboro, maybe it will correspond with the date of a luncheon and you could join us. Just know that I am thinking about you, my friend.”
