Kristina Jean (Barnett) Barnett-Sherman Obituary

Kristina Jean Barnett-Sherman, a tremendously kind-hearted friend, doting Yaya (Grandmother), loving wife, adoring sister, wonderfully patient and affectionate mother, a fearless fighter, and surmounter of obstacles passed from this world on September 22, 2021, surrounded by loved ones. After beating odds and waging a ruthless defense against a dreadful disease for nearly half a decade, she finally found respite in the arms of liberation from suffering. In life, she was a spectacle to behold; abundantly beautiful with a personality larger than life, and a heart to match. She was an inspiration to many, and a friend to many more; a loving example of kindness, forgiveness, humor, and fierce grace. She could party with the best of them and treated life as if it were the greatest party of them all, and for her it was.

Throughout her last few years, she was able to cross off so many bucket-list-worthy experiences; skydiving, riding on the back of her brothers Harley Davidson, swimming with dolphins, attending and donating to, a prestigious golf tournament and charity event for Pancreatic Cancer, and even assisting in the birth of her Grandson, as well as a plethora of other riveting events and amusing adventures. She was the star of the show, the center of her familial universe, and most of all the life of the party.

She will forever be missed by and live on in the hearts of those she is survived by including: the love of her life, her generous and nurturing husband Dennis (Sherm); her lovingly-attentive and dutiful son, Kelsey (Sonbun); her perpetually grateful and compassionate daughter-in-law, Brittany (DiL); her two precious and beloved Grandchildren, Aryia Jade (Squeaks), and Bodhi Jackson (Bear); her devoted and always supportive elder sister Cynthia Alyse (Lisa/My Sista); her adoring and fiercely trusted confidant and younger brother Mark (Marko), and his wonderfully loving and energizing partner in life, whom she considered her kindred spirit Rachele; two treasured and dear to her heart Step brothers, Billy and Brad; her proud and affectionate Father Jack and his wife, her birthday twin and stepmother Lynn; her forever valued and sympathetic stepfather Bill; a cherished and revered aunt and uncle, Kathleen and Mark (Big Mark) and his darling wife Donetta; her favorite and always, incredibly admired cousin Tiffany (Tiff/Tiffrany); her charming and kind nephew Cory, and his fantastically warm-hearted wife Leila; her two best friends in the world, whom she loved like sisters and who she could always count on no matter what, Michelle (Mickey) and Lisa (Spanky) and their respective children who were loved so deeply by her and whom all lovingly referred to her as Aunt Kris; Zachary, Emma, Julia, Dominic, and Alyssa; as well as countless other close-knit and compassionately loyal friends and much appreciated and loved extended family, all who she cherished so immensely. She joins in an infinite celestial embrace with those who preceded her in death; her always faithful and exceptionally admiring mother Linda (GG); her personal idol and extraordinarily courageous grandmother, Marian (Butch); her esteemed and ever-cherished grandfather, Fred (Freddy); a wonderfully loved and gone too soon nephew Dakota (Kota bear).

She left in her wake, so much love and light and kindness, that even though her soul no longer resides within her body, her beautiful, outrageous, and fun-loving spirit lives on in every single person in this world whose lives she touched, and in the countless fond memories that she has given us. Forever we will celebrate her in this world she left behind, and what a wonderful world we share, with the presence of her loving influence always in our hearts and minds.

“…The colors of the rainbow
So pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces
Of people going by
I see friends shaking hands
Saying, "How do you do?"
They're really saying
"I love you"

I hear babies cry
I watch them grow
They'll learn much more
Than I'll never know
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world”
-What a Wonderful World
by Louis Armstrong
