He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Patricia Collinson and John T. Collinson; his children, John T. Collinson II and Amanda C. Carr; his stepsons, Chris and Brandon (Denice); his siblings, Don Collinson and Nancy McGinty; and his grandson Zion Lamar Carr.

In lieu of a service and flowers, his children are working with the city of Jacksonville to donate park enhancements like a bench and/or a tree to Stockton Park in his honor.
