He was predeceased by: his parents, Mamie Hill and John Hill; his son Dennis Craig Hill; and his siblings, Sharon Parker Hill, Doris Hill, John and Sonny.

He is survived by: his wife Erma Jean Bennett Hill; his children, Deborah Gayle Melvin (Raymond) of Jacksonville, Rhonda Lee Shanesy (Keith) of Jacksonville, Kelly Marie Williamson (Michael) of Jacksonville, James Ray Hill, Jr. of Jacksonville and William Frank Hill (Peggy) of Fruitland, Georgia; and his siblings, Ruth Ann Bodine of Harriman, Tennessee and Haskel Joe Hill of Jacksonville. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
