James Dewey Day Obituary
James Dewey Day (Jacksonville, Florida), born in Fort Riley, Kansas, passed away on December 4, 2021, at the age of 65. To those who knew him, he went by Jim or Gator. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; mother, Cecilia; siblings Mary, John, Kevin, Thomas, Michelle, Jeanie, Lynn; daughter Chelsea Day (Cory) and step daughter Katherine Moody (Jeff); grandchildren Ashley (Jason), Haley, Cheyanne, Alena, Jocelyn, Kayden, and Caleb; and great granddaughter, Annabella. He is proceeded in death by his father, Willard; brother, Willard; and daughters Carrie and Jamie. Jim was a very hard worker all his life. He loved his wife, Margaret, very much. He also loved all of his children and grandchildren very deeply. He was obsessed with tennis shoes, fishing rods, and Florida Gator hats! He would always buy new shoes and hats, but wear the same favorites all the time. His favorite pastimes included watching the Gators play football (very loudly!), fishing whenever he got the chance, and gardening with his wife. He had the ultimate green thumb and could grow anything just about anywhere! He was a giver and a helper. The words "give his shirt off his back" would apply to Jim because he was always helping people before thinking about himself. He very much wanted everyone around him to have a good life and was determined to help in any way he could. His own trials and tribulations in life led to his big heart and helping nature. He was always on the go and did not sit still. When he did sit still, he would fall asleep wherever he was sitting. Jim was a very good cook and he loved to cook and bake for anyone who came to his table. He always smelled good. No matter what he had been doing that day, he always smelled good. He loved the Lord. He knew God's love, mercy, and forgiveness were what he needed in his own life, and he was led to salvation by his wife in 2017. He was loved by countless people, each of which will miss him very much but will carry their precious memories with them every day.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 13th 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Duval Station Baptist Church (13734 Lyle Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32218), with lunch to follow.
