With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Irene McCarthy of Jacksonville, Florida, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Irene left this world on April 19, 2025 at the age of 96, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
As we bid adieu to Irene's earthly form, let us not dwell on the void left in her wake, but rather celebrate the legacy of love and inspiration Irene has bequeathed us. For though she may have departed from our sight, her spirit remains a timeless beacon, guiding loved ones through the labyrinth of life's journey.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Peter and Mary Virginia Colwell; her husband Tom; her grandson Matthew Brown McCarthy; and her sister Helen L. Chanowsky.
She is survived by: her children, Kathleen McCarthy and Father Dennis McCarthy; her sister Virginia LiSanti; and her caregiver Kristi. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 25th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church (149 Montauk Ave, New London, CT 06320). A Mass will be held on Friday, April 25th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to St Ann Melkite Greek Catholic Church, 41 Cross Road, Waterford, CT 0 or St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
