He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Ross Mercer and Opal Mercer; his son James Leo Mercer; his wife Rebecca; and his children, Howard A. Mercer of Jacksonville, Florida., Christina M. Stackhouse (George) of Sellersburg, Anna M. Piacentino of Catawha and Robin R. Feliciano (Jack). He was also cherished by 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
