She was predeceased by: her parents, George Arlin Martin and Mary Alene Martin; her husband Harold R. Whiteman; her son Richard Whiteman; her siblings, Billy Joe Martin, Arlin "Buddy" Martin and Betty Jean Willie; and her nephew Jeff Rodgers.

She is survived by: her children, Cynthia Strickland (Emory) and Billy Whiteman (Susan); and her siblings, Barbara Rodgers (Grant) and George Martin. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, and many adored nieces and nephews.

She continued working in the kitchen until the age of 89, only stopping due to the shutdown associated with the covid pandemic.
