He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert E. Lee and Isabel Hamilton Lee. He is survived by: his wife Sarah Lee (Kitty); his children, Johnny (Ashley), Bob and Claire; his grandchildren, Anna Lee, Morgan White and Hadley White; and his siblings, Robert, Frederick Lee (Madonna) and Karen Perry (Danny).
His personal shell collection was estimated to be the largest private collection in the world, and - over the course of more than a decade - he donated this collection (nearly 1 million shells in total) to the Florida Museum of Natural History.
