He was predeceased by: his grandfather Loyal Ernest McCombs; and his parents, Florita Zimmerman (McCombs) and Ludwig Zimmerman. He is survived by: his son Michael Zimmerman of Allen, TX; his brothers, Richard Zimmerman of Jacksonville and Ken Zimmerman of Carolina Shores, NC; the mother of his child Hazel Leeper Poston; his nieces, Cathy Zimmerman Gamble (Dewey) and Shirley Zimmerman Rosselot (David); and his nephew Ken Zimmerman, Jr.. He is also survived by several great nieces and nephews (5), and 1 great, great niece.

“Sorry for your loss. Sonny will be missed. He was a staple at the bowling alley. He was an excellent bowler and always friendly. He shot over 800 at least twice i.e. 801 and 813 and also had at least 2 300 games. He will be rembered fondly by all his friends at Jax Lanes.”
