With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Dean Mattox in Jacksonville, Florida, born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, who passed away on July 23, 2021 at the age of 82. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, LaVerne G. Mattox and Lorean A. Troth; his grandson Brent Douglas Curtis; and his siblings, Catherine Mattox Freeman, Sandra Mattox Stultz, Viola Mattox Peters, Kenneth Mattox and Ronald Mattox.

He is survived by: his wife Loretta Curtis; his children, Gala Mattox Messerschmidt (Mike), Tony Mattox (Leslie), Brenda Rashaw (Craig), Joel Douglas Curtis (Tommie), Kathy Cross (Carl) and Sam Curtis (Susan); his grandchildren, Jason, Matt, Brent Messerschmidt, Nicole Mattox, Justin, Lauren Rashaw, Keaton, Mary Cross, Reagan and Grayson Curtis; and his great grandchildren, Sophia Amelia and Jett Messerschmidt.
