He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Burchfield and Edna Burchfield; his brother Robert E. Burchfield; his granddaughter Shae Lynn Burchfield; and his brothers-in-law, Virgil Earl, Joseph Floyd, Tommy Glisson and James F. Conrad (Clara Janie).
He is survived by: his wife Gloria Glisson Burchfield; his children, Carl W. Burchfield III (Cherry), Ali Jean Burchfield (Melody) and Joseph Giles Burchfield (Judy); and his sisters-in-law, Sharon Burchfield and Luann Altendorf (Charles).
He served on the Board of Directors of The St. Augustine YMCA and The American Cancer Society, as the President of The St. Augustine NCO Club, The State Arsenal Employees Council, Webster Middle School PTA, and Crookshank Elementary School PTA.
