He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Jason Braxton Atkins and Maude Withrow Atkins; his children, Nancy Elizabeth Atkins and David Braxton Atkins; his wife Meg; his grandchildren, Joshua and Rachel; his son Greg Atkins (Dottie); and his grandsons, Matthew Emel, Grayson and Alec. He was also cherished by nieces, nephews and cousins.
