She was predeceased by: her husband Jack Bates; and her sons, David Bates and Terry Bates. She is survived by: her daughters, Jodie Eiland (Murray) of Interlachen and Jackie Baggett (Joseph) of San Mateo; and her siblings, Tom Ryster (Sandy) of Michigan, John Ryster (Judy) of Ohio, Sheila Jones (Kevin) of Hastings, Rusty Ryster (Deb) of Palatka, Ella Ryster of Satsuma, Doc Ryster of Palatka and Laura Dale (Dan) of St. Augustine. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
