He was predeceased by: his wife Carolyn Wonicker Mathe; and his siblings, Donald Mathe, Audrey Ceelen and Irene Pocquette. He is survived by: his children, Thena "Cathe" Mathe of Palatka, Anna Johns of Palatka, John J. Mathe, Jr. (Pegi) of Interlachen, Maria Mathe-Bergh (John) of Round Rock, TX and Liam Mathe (Suzanne) of Bell; his brothers, Clifford Mathe (Lac) of Fond and Joseph Mathe (Rose) of Oshkosh, WI; and his grandchildren, Renee Unsworth (Shawn), Desiree Wright, Chris Flowers and Kara Mathe (Robbie Comstock). He is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren.
