He is survived by: his wife Cynthia S; his children, John Richard "Ricky" Gillis (Theresa), Marian Cross (Gary), Michelle Bullard (Darrell, Sr.), Aaron Michael Farr and Catrina Rena McCoy (Robert, Jr.); his grandchildren, Sabrina Carter, Noah Cross, Kiersten Cross, Deanna Bullard, Darrell Bullard, Jr., Leigh Ann, Ashley, Aaron, Jr., John Murrow, Tristan Murrow, Shyanne McCoy and Brandyn McCoy; and his brother Charlie Lewis Gillis (Pat). He is also survived by 14 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
