He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob Sherman and Lena Sherman (Doty). He is survived by: his wife Lydia Pita; his daughters, Christine Garfinkel (Jeffrey) and Kelly Dunham (Richard); his grandchildren, Mara Cox (Robert), Brooke Rutkowski (Daniel), Brandon Corzine and Jenna Dunham; his great grandchildren, Madison and Cassidy Cox; his siblings, Gene Hubbard (Robert) and Leo; and his sister-in-law Joanne Pita. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association in Gary's memory.
