He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee Roy (Pick) and Pearl Hicks (Lowrey); his brother Roy E. Hicks; his daughter Renee Cates; and his grandson Shane Dooley.
He is survived by: his wife Elsie; his children, Connie McIntyre (Stan), Keith Hicks (Christine), Cindy Hunter (Mark), Marina Miller (Dennis) and Rusty Helton (Kristi); and his grandchildren, Meghan Rush (Deven), Jessi Madison (Coleman), Daniel McIntyre (Courtney), Kelli Cross (Nick Curtis), Christopher McIntyre, Michelle Gentry (John), Tasia Beck, Brian Helton and Amanda Parker (Jackson).
