He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Thelma; his parents, Samuel Zeibert and Freida Zeibert; his children, Shari, Gina Zeibert, Barbara and Mitchell Baevitz; his granddaughter Taylor Carattini; and his nieces and nephews, Roberta, Marilyn, Maxine Sloane, Alan and Sanford Sloane.

Gilbert was born in Troy, New York where he served our country in the United States Coast Guard and later moved to the Bronx, New York where he opened and operated a Dry Cleaning business for many years before moving to Florida where he began working for the State of Florida in many capacities, Donations can be made to Dementia research in Gilbert's name.
