James Richard Bullock Obituary
James Richard Bullock, 75, of Hollister passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at HCA Florida North Florida Hospital in Gainesville following an extended illness.
Born in Jacksonville, Richard had resided in Putnam County for the past 17 years coming from Jacksonville where he had worked as a bridge builder and bridge tender for CSX railroad, retiring after 35 years of service.
A veteran who served honorably in the US Army, Richard was a combatant in the Vietnam Conflict from 1969-1971. He was a former vice commander of US Vets Post 104 in Palatka and was of the Baptist faith. In his leisure time, Richard enjoyed fishing, hunting, working in his garden, spending time outdoors, NASCAR, and dirt track racing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas J. Bullock and Frances T. Bullock; a brother, William H. Bullock; and a sister, Mary Lucille (MaryLou) Leonard.
Surviving are his wife, Cindy Weaver Bullock of Hollister; daughters and son-in-law, Lori Bullock Nipper (Ray) of Middleburg and Nicole Collette of Palatka; a son and daughter-in-law, Matthew Johns (Holly) of Bardin; six grandchildren and spouses, Chase Greene (Crystal), Thomas Stewart, Brandon McQuaig, Macey Johns, Westen Johns, Kylie Diane; two great grandchildren, Wynter Green and Blayke McQuaig; a brother, Fred Bullock of Clarksville, TN; sisters, Mae Langford of McClenney, Beverly Woods of Jacksonville, and Frances Barr (Marty) of Jacksonville; and his faithful Beagle friend, Gunner.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Sunday, June 23, 2024 at Masters Funeral Home in Palatka with Rev. Jamie Donohue officiating and military honors bestowed by the US Army. Friends are invited to call from 10-11 a.m.—an hour before the start of the service. Interment will follow in Oak Hill East Cemetery in Palatka. The family suggests comfortable attire.
