He was predeceased by: his parents, Dewey Buckner and Margaret Pittman Buckner; his sisters, Ann Buckner Caldwell (Ray Caldwell) and Margene Buckner Hair (Jerry Hair); and his stepfather John "Pop" Chandler.
He is survived by: his significant other Dorothy Hatton Buckner; his children, Suzanne Buckner Mawhinney (Jon Braley), Kelley Buckner Bedore (Chris Bedore) and Marcus Lewis Buckner Jr. (Denice Buckner); and his grandchildren, Hailey Nicole Mawhinney, Douglas Paul Whiddion, Taylor Evan Whiddon, Dylan Allen Mawhinney, Logan Suzanne Seeman, Connor Lewis Stephan, Payton Ella Buckner, Addison Sierra Buckner and Dawson Michael Bedore.
